Well, this is the first post to this blog. Let me give myself a brief introduction. I am a 26 year old Navy veteran. I have been to many places, seen some cool things…blah, blah, blah. I am a sports fan, that is, a fan of sport. I have a couple of sports loyalties; these are to the Oregon Ducks, and the Seattle Seahawks. While I root for these two teams blindly, I do not root against other teams in any sport. I am very critical of the NBA, and all things David Stern. I also have to say that I am from the west coast, and I truly believe in an east coast bias in sports. But that’s part of the fun, right?
The format of this blog will be simple. Each Tuesday I will compile what I think are the most compelling stories from all of sports for the past week (that could mean a story about a paraplegic dog-sledder, or simply a story about a whiny over paid athlete), and write about my feelings, opinions, and overall impression. I will try to bring you a couple of “off the beaten path,” type of stories each week. I have no background in media, and I am not a reporter, so my stories will all come from public sources (i.e. ESPN, FOX Sports, Sports Illustrated, etc.).
1.) Note to Allen Iverson…you are an aging superstar, while 31 is only 4 years over the league average, you have been plagued with injuries for years. You have shown yourself to be a very clutch player, and I would never take your skill away from you. But you are a whiner, a poor teammate, and a terrible leader. Retire.
Note to NBA team owners... AI has been in Philly for 10 years, and the team can’t wait to get him out, probably a good idea to stay away from him.
2.) David Stern brought back the leather ball….bout time, probably shouldn’t have replaced it in THE FIRST PLACE!!!! Thanks David.
3.) What is up with NBA Players getting there wisdom teeth pulled in the middle of the season? I thought you were supposed to get them out in high school. I can understand that some people don’t have dental insurance so they can’t get them out…but come on. D. Wade, and AI both had their’s out this year. You would think that a team doctor somewhere would have thought to take them out before they got impacted…IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON!!!
4.) Knicks owner James Dolan has said that Isiah Thomas needs to show “evident progress” by the end of the season. I hope so. Maybe this year the Knicks can go, I don’t know, 24 and 58.
5.) NFL Network is going to be free for a couple of nights…now Cable subscribers can see the same grainy picture I’ve been watching. Oh, and I bet they can’t wait to listen to Bryant Gumble’s super enthusiastic and accurate play-by-play. Or maybe they prefer Cris Collinsworth’s non-egocentric color commentary.
6.) As a Seahawks fan I already new this. But now I think every fan of every team in the NFL can say, officially, “THE OFFICIALS SUCK.” I’ve seen more confidence in a 3rd grade piano recital. These officials are throwing flags late, then when it comes time to let us know what they've decided.....they act as though they are asking for approval rather than telling us.
7.) My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Lamar Hunt, owner of the Kansas City Chiefs. Mr. Hunt is in a Dallas hospital, being treated for cancer.
8.) Oh yeah, Mr. Epstein, let it go man. You are embarrassing yourself. Just pickup a free agent and move on.
